PASTOR GREG ALDERMAN
Pastor Greg Alderman was born in Beckley, WV on January 25, 1961. Raised in a Christian home, Greg was exposed to the truths of God’s Word at a young age and trusted Christ as his Savior in October of 1969. His the oldest of three sons born to Harlie and Margaret Alderman. His brother, Brent, lives in Back Creek Valley and his brother, Wes, lives in NC. Greg attended Winfield High School in Winfield, WV. During that time he felt the Lord calling him into full time Christian ministry. He attended Appalachian Bible College in Bradley, WV from 1979-1984, earning a B.A. Th.B. in Bible/Theology, with minors in Pastoral Studies and Christian Education. It was there he met Drema Wood, who, after a time, graciously consented to be his wife. They were married on May 19, 1984 and began a team ministry that exists to this day. God blessed them with a girl and a boy, Their daughter, Aubrey, is a Speech & Language Pathologist and lives in the area. Their son, Jud, is currently in southern WV at Concord University studying Pre-Med/Biology. From 1984-1991, Pastor Greg was on staff at Shenandoah Baptist Church in Roanoke. Besides working in church music, Greg taught Bible & Drama at Roanoke Valley Christian Schools. From 1989-1991, Greg also served as the Camp Director of Camp Eagle, a Christian Camping outreach of Shenandoah Baptist Church in Fincastle, VA. In 1992, Greg and Drema followed God’s leading to Abingdon Bible Church in Abingdon, VA. During their nearly 18 years of ministry in Abingdon, Greg served as Youth Pastor and Associate Pastor. He primarily worked with young people and young families in a variety of ministries. Pastor Alderman has also maintained a steady speaking schedule, especially in summer months, that has taken him to many Christian Camps and Conference Centers across the U.S. In 2002, Pastor Greg earned a M.A. from Trinity Theological Seminary in Pastoral Ministries. He is currently in a M.Div. program at Trinity in Biblical Counseling. After undergoing a candidating process, Central Chapel issued a call to Pastor Greg to be their pastor in July of 2009. He and Drema began their ministry at Central on September 27, 2009. Pastor Greg enjoys history, football, communicating God’s truth, snowboarding and powerlifting. His life verse in Joshua 1:9 – “Have I not commanded you, be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Pastor Greg’s favorite quote is from Oswald Chambers who said, “Beware of returning to or going back to what you once were, when God would have you be something you have never been.”
